Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Erlan Abdyldaev met with visiting Indian Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Mushabar Javad Akbar on April 17 in Bishkek. The press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Re public reported that during the meeting the both sides discussed the issues of further development and strengthening of bilateral cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and India, in particular, the implementation of the agreements reached following the state visit of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic to India in December 2016.

The Indian Minister stressed that the main purpose of his visit was to discuss the issues related to the implementation of the vision of President of the Kyrgyz Republic Almazbek Atambayev expressed during his state visit to India in December 2016 to organize and hold an international conference in Kyrgyzstan on de-radicalization of society, countering religious extremism and terrorism. “The Indian side is ready to contribute to the success of this very important and timely initiative of Kyrgyzstan,” assured M. J. Akbar.

The both sides also stressed with satisfaction the positive dynamics in implementation of agreements reached during the visit. The Indian side noted the readiness for the adoption of the 5-year Road Map of Cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and India; the expediency of joint development by the competent departments of the two countries for the establishment of the Kyrgyz-Indian Cooperation and Development Fund; expressed interest in cooperation in agriculture (creation of joint ventures for the production of environmentally friendly products in the Kyrgyz Republic, creation of a logistics infrastructure), readiness for joint development of the pharmaceutical industry using the rich medical and pharmacological flora of the country; deepen trade and economic ties and solve practical issues for facilitating the access of products from Kyrgyzstan to the Indian market.

The Indian side also expressed readiness to share its experience in the implementation and development of the e-governance system.
